Like any good ‘lamer, I troll this here series of tubes with an eagle eye on gaming news and other related goodies. Whilst doing so last week I was besieged by persistent incestuous linking and goings on about the above video. I watched the video. When it was over I watched it again to make sure I hadn’t missed some hidden genius or arcane humor delivery initiative I had not had the mettle to have noticed on the first go-round
The whole week this went on. My RSS reader was brimming with links to this video and almost all of the comments seemed to be near sickeningly positive. A writer for a popular gaming editorial website, I was faced with a challenge:
Do I hold my tongue and starve this beast the select few who might come to it by my mention of it, having somehow missed the near ridiculous barrage of geek-love it has received in the last seven days?
OR
Do I compose this post, which will undoubtedly drive traffic to the piece, with the intent of pre-soiling the viewers’ opinion of it with a volley of grammatic artillery and hope for the best?
After hours of consideration I have come to this: I will just point to it, say I think it is crap and ask what you think.
So — what do you think?
I think it had a few good laughs at the very end, but ultimately I left this one feeling like I had seen it before. I think without some of that ridiculous end clip cursing and dialogue from the cop it would have been worthless.
Meh, yeah, nothing too funny, really. They have something going with the general idea and style, but it needs to be refined more. Maybe a sequel?
I’ve noticed that very often, especially pertaining to inside jokes, just doing something, regardless of quality, is enough to get positive attention.
I thought it was pretty good. I have seen better, but hey, at least they tried. I also appreciated that female actress has the whole “god peach is so fucking annoying” vibe down pact. But in the end, Jay is basically right. All they are doing is making an OK video about a joke we’ve all made before. Maybe I just like the fact that there are other people who think like I do and then have the free time to make a video about it.
